Our Identity

A Rural Meghalaya School with a Big Heart

Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Tikrikilla is a Catholic co-educational institution managed by the Diocese of Tura, under Assumption Parish, Tikrikilla, West Garo Hills. Established primarily for Catholic Christians, our gates are open to all — irrespective of caste, creed or tribe — with one aim: to impart sound education and all-round formation to every child who walks in.

Following the method taught and practised by St. John Bosco, we give particular attention to discipline and character formation alongside academics — preparing students for the HSSLC under the Meghalaya Board of School Education, in an English-medium campus of over 1,900 students and 48 teachers.

Being a Christian institution, the entire activity of the school is based on and directed by Christian principles as specified in our motto. Religious and moral instruction, drawn from the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, runs quietly through everything we do — not as an imposition, but as the foundation on which we build habits of piety, virtue, self-reliance and discipline.

Set in Ghaguapara village in the hills of West Garo Hills, ours is a campus where the courtyard fills every morning for assembly, where house colours light up the sports ground, and where the hostel gives many of our students a genuine second home. What we are finally after is simple: to send out good and useful citizens.

How the School Grew

1969

The Primary School Begins

Don Bosco Pvt. LPS opens its doors in Ghaguapara, offering primary education to children of the surrounding villages of Tikrikilla block.

1984

Don Bosco Higher Secondary School is Established

The Diocese of Tura establishes the school under Assumption Parish, Tikrikilla — formally committing to sound intellectual, moral and physical education for the region.

Growth

From Primary to Class XII

Classes extend upward to the Higher Secondary stage, with the course of studies designed to prepare pupils for the HSSLC of the Meghalaya Board of School Education.

Today

1,900+ Students, 48 Teachers, One Campus

Over 35 classrooms, hostels for boys and girls, a working House System and a full calendar of cultural, sporting and spiritual life — all on one rural campus in West Garo Hills.

The Don Bosco Way

The system of education followed in the school is the method taught and practised by St. John Bosco, a great educator of youth — built on three inseparable pillars.

Rules are explained, never merely enforced. We want students who understand why discipline, punctuality and honesty matter — so the habit outlasts the school gate.

Moral and religious instruction based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, offered in a spirit of respect for every child's background and belief.
